Family Tree In-Home Care, a portfolio company of Genova Health, has partnered with Uber to launch Ride With Family Tree in Houston and its surrounding counties.

Ride With Family Tree leverages Uber’s cutting edge technology and Family Tree’s personal touch concierge service to make safe and reliable transportation more accessible for older adults in Houston. This innovative service connects older adults to door-to-door transportation to get to medical appointments and outings, all without the need of a smartphone, tablet or application. All it takes is an old-fashioned phone call to a live Family Tree concierge. Family Tree’s concierge will then utilize Uber’s technology to request, manage, and pay for multiple Uber rides on behalf of their customers.

“Uber is constantly looking for more ways to serve cities and communities where we operate. We’re proud to partner with Genova Health to ensure that more seniors in Houston have access to a safe, reliable ride when they need it most,” says David Brightman, general manager of Houston for Uber.

“We’re proud to partner with Uber to connect aging adults to on-demand transportation in Houston,” says Alex Bonetti, chief executive officer and founder of Family Tree, which has provided over 500,000 hours of senior services just in the Greater Houston Area. “Through the use of Uber’s technology, Ride With Family Tree will assist seniors who could benefit from being connected to safe, reliable rides with Uber, but may be unfamiliar with using ridesharing applications.”

In addition to helping connect unaccompanied seniors to rides, Ride With Family Tree also allows for caregivers and nurses to accompany customers who may need or want additional support. The partnership is enjoying rapid expansion in the Houston market, having already increased access to transportation across the major Houston hospitals as well as luxury retirement communities such as The Forum at Memorial Woods and Parkway Place.

“Access to affordable and safe transportation is a necessity for the welfare of our city and our seniors,” says Daniel Gottschalk, co-founder and president of Houston-based Genova Health.

“Using Ride With Family Tree to ensure senior Houstonians never miss a doctor appointment will significantly contribute to reducing preventable hospitalization rates,” says Dr. Derek Dawes, an internist at LBJ Hospital in Houston.
